Objective: To encourage undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education in the field of sales and marketing for the purpose of preparing individuals for professional careers.
Funding:
At the close of each SME fiscal year, the board, at its option designates and transfer funds into the general scholarship fund. Additional programs designed to raise scholarship funds will be split as follows: 50% to the named organization, 50% to the general SME scholarship fund.
Eligibility:
Immediate family members, including grandchildren, of CNYSME members in good standing or affiliated educational programs or groups currently enrolled, as high school, continuing education; undergraduate or graduate students are eligible. All Recipients will be selected without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
The Scholarships:
Scholarship awards from the SME general scholarship fund, including awards resulting from special programs (ie. Big Swing) are awarded to applicants in amounts up to a maximum of $1,000. The number of awards will be determined by the Scholarship Committee and based on the availability of funds.
Selection Procedure:
Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, and a 500-word essay describing their career goals as it relates to sales and marketing. Extra weighting will be given to immediate family members of SME members who are in good standing. A selection committee comprised of a minimum of 5, SME Scholarship committee and Board members will review applications.
